Yellow & Gold Inkwell Dish

This is an inkwell with its undertray made by Fuerstenberg in the mid 20th century. The piece has a superb yellow ground color to it that in combination with the white porcelain and gold trim give it a very mid century modern feel. One does not see yellow all that often on porcelain since I believe the color is derived from gold which makes it rather expensive. The little inkwell is separate and just sits in its spot in the tray. The tray sits on four claw shaped feet. The tray is marked underneath with the blue F under a crown mark while the little ink pot is not. The tray is 7.75 inches wide, 5.375 inches deep and 1.75 inches tall including the feet. The little inkwell is 1.875 inches tall and 2.25 inches in diameter. The set looks nice but was used quite a bit since the gold trim along the front of the edge of the tray has worn off. There is an almost chip along the edge of the ink pot as shown. It never came off and you cannot see it from the outside but the inside has a faint crack line where the crack started. It's stable and really not obvious when on display. Still a neat and quite different looking set. I also have the matching blotter on the site if anyone would like the combo.
