Piano Player Monkey Band Figurine

This is a fun figurine of a piano player from the monkey band series made by Fuerstenberg in the 18th century (off course copying the more famous version by the top German maker). A very well executed figurine of a popular topic and quite the typical decoration for Fürstenberg around this time especially the puce trim around the base. The male monkey is sitting on top of another monkey that is on all fours with the piano in the front. The piano player is wearing a wig and is nicely dressed while the other monkey just has fur painted on it. It's a great looking figure and one of the main ones from this series. Quite hard to find! The figurine is 5.25 inches tall, 2.375 inches wide and 4.125 inches long. This piece here is marked underneath with the blue crossed swords mark copying Meissen off course which was later disallowed. The piece is in good condition but there has been work done to both feet of the piano player musician with one of them having broken off again and needs a little TLC to make it pefect again - not a difficult job. The front braid of the wig has also been worked on and that work has yellowed a bit. Also an easy touch up if one wanted that. From the front the piece displays perfectly! These pieces are rather hard to find! These pieces are so much fun to look at and the monkey band players are some of the most collected figures in porcelain even today.
