Lessing Bust

This is a bust of the famous German writer (among other things) Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. It appears to be after a marble bust made by the sculptor Christian Friedrich Krull in about 1780. It was made by Fuerstenberg in about 1781 the year he died in. It is a superb bust with amazing detail and left in biscuit (a form of unglazed porcelain) these details are shown off perfectly. The base of the bust is glazed and has a nice gold design to it. That sits on top of a square column with some gold trim to the edges. The piece is in great condition with some invisible minor work to the top corners of the column. The entire piece is 7.125 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 2 inches deep. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue script F mark as shown but the bust itself has the rare impressed horse mark on it with G.E. LESSING impressed under it as well as No. 11. The horse mark was only used on biscuit busts so it is a rare one to see. Please email me for more information or photos.
