Large Scenic Vase

This is a very nice large trumpet shaped vase made by Fuerstenberg in the early 19th century around 1820. It is hand painted on one side with a superb quality scene including three people, a column as well as lots of greenery. There is some gold trim along the bottom, the top as well as the lower part that is riased a bit to make it apear as if the vase is sitting on a base. The back of the vase has a nice floral arrangement on it that is quite nice as well. A really nice piece and quite large for this type of vase. The piece is 7.5 inches tall with a top diameter of just over 7.5 inches. Vases were the most important product for Fuerstenberg and this piece shows us why - quite stunning! It is marked with some underglaze blue marks as well as an incised number but most of it was ground down to make the piece sit flat. The center must have sagged a bit during firing and need to be ground down. The vase displays nicely from the front but there is a large flat chip to the back edge above the floral design as shown as well as two small chips to the underside edge. They would all be a very easy fix! Please email me for more information or photos.
