Hussar on Horse Figurine #1

This is a very rare figurine of a hussar soldier on a horse mady by Fuerstenberg in about 1760. A very well modeled figure that is perfectly hand painted. Only very few examples are known of this model! The hussar is nicely dressed with one hand in the air while the other is on the back side of the horse's neck. That hand would ahve been holding the reigns which were not made of porcelain and are long gone. The horse is crashing down during battle onto a typical base for this maker during this period. The horse's face is suprbly painted as it the back end with the spots. The figurine is 7.625 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide and 8.5 inches long. It is marked underneath with the blue crossed swords mark they used quite a bit during this time before it not being allowed anymore later in the 18th century. The piece is in great condition for what it is but the upper hand is damaged and missing four finger tips after it was already rpeviously restored, a whip to the back tip of the horse's blanket and the back front leg of the horse is missing the front part as shown. All these are to be expected on a piece this old and not terribly hard to restore. There is also a spot in the front center of the base that is rough though that seems to have been ground down after it was made possibly where a support of the arm was resting during the firing process. All in all the figurine displays superbly and is very rare! Please email me for more information or photos.
