Horse Figurine

This is a really nice figurine of a horse made by Fuerstenberg in the 19th century (about 1820). Their marks are a bit hard to date so it could be a bit earlier or later. I have not seen this model before nor can I find another so it is definitely not something you'll come across again anytime soon. The horse is superbly modeled with the front legs in the air and the body supported by some greenery in the center. Really nicely hand painted with black spots quite typical of this maker. If it weren't for the makr I would have dated it much earlier. It has something in it's mouth - not sure what it is meant to be. The piece is very reminiscent of the Niedersachen (lower Saxony) coat of arms - the state that the factory is in. The figure is in good condition with the usual breaks and repairs and rebreaks to the front legs. Never seen one perfect from that period. All the pieces are there and fit together nicely so it would be an easy touch up for a restorer! The figurine is marked with a script F mark underneath as shown. The piece is about 10.375 inches tall, 11.25 iches long and 4.875 inches wide. A really nice horse figurine! Please email me for more information or photos.
