Bird Scene Vase

This is a very nice large vase made by Fuerstenberg in the 18th century. It is hand painted on either side with a large bird scene that is superbly detailed. One side has a female rukey as well as a rooster, a female chicken, a chick and three other birds. The other side five birds to it. All in a landscape surrounding. There is a handle with a gilded relief design to it on either side, the lid has a nice relief design to it as well as nice finial and a "pearl" design around the side all highlighted with gilding. The bottom part of the main body has a raised design to it with a bit of gilding around the edgeand the foot has a gold trim around to top edge and the base edge. The foot is attached with a screw to the main body. A great looking piece! The vase displays superbly but has a few issues. There is a spot where the glaze did not take that has discolored a bit which I showed in the pics. The bottom inside has a hairline as shown which does not affect the piece. The lid has had the finial off and there it looks like there was a clean break just underneath the "pearl" trim so they filled the underside of the lid with a plaster and attached a metal disc to which the finial is fixed with a screw. It's not obvious when on display at all and the piece looks amazing! The scenes are top quality and the gilding still looks great with very little wear at all. The vase with its lid in place is about 13 inches tall, 8.55 inches wide and about 6 inches deep. Vases were the most important product of Fuerstenberg during this period and it shows. They made some amazing pieces and this one here is no exception! It is marked with the underglaze blue F mark underneath as shown. Please email me for more information or photos.
