Polychrome Floral Lid

This is a lonely lid possibly for a pot de creme / lidded hot chocolate cup or a pot a pommade / ointment pot and was made in France in the 18th century. Could even be a teapot lid. The design suggests a maker like Locre but not being marked it is hard to be sure. Definitely French in origin and from this time period. The piece is hand painted with a larger floral arrangement to one side, a smaller one to the other and a single flower in between. Nice gold trim to the edge and a fruit finial with its stem and two leaves that are also gilded. It's a nice early piece and if you have one missing this would be a rare occasion to make your piece complete again. The lid is in good condition with a minor of wear as well as a small chip to the edge and one that is a bit larger but still not the end of the world. The ring on the underside that would fit into the opening of the container it is for has a bunch of chipping to it but that would not be seen when used and on display. Unmarked which is very normal when you just have a lid. The piece is 1 inch tall without the underside ring with an outer diameter of 2.375 inches. The ring on the underside that sits inside the main body is about 0.125 inches tall and the outer diameter is 2 inches so the inside diameter of whatever item you want to use it for needs to be at least that size or a touch bigger!
