Niderviller Type Figurine

This is a great figurine of a couple made by Niderviller around in the early 19th century. Not as good as their earlier figurines but still quite nice. More in line with the other Paris pieces of this period. It is hard to find non single figure pieces by them so it was nice to find this one. The figurine is of a couple where the lady looks like she is in the process of falling down having lost the basket she was carrying which ahs fallen over in front of her and holding onto the gentleman's hair in order not to fall down all the way. All on a typical base for this maker with the gold along the edge. The piece displays perfectly but there is a chip to the edge of her head covering and the paint on his pants is oddly colored like it wasn't mixed properly before painting them plus her blue top is also not as smooth as it should be and mottled - not sure why but it is not restored! Two tiny spots of green paint missing on his top in the back and a touch of gold wear. As is the case with most of their figurines it is unmarked but the style fits them best though it could be a Paris maker from this period as well. The figurine is 6.75 inches tall and the base is about 4.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
