Scenic Plate

This is a nice scenic plate made in France in the 19th century. The paste and feel reminds me of one of my Choisy le Roi - Hautin & Boulanger pieces. Not porcelain but some sort of majolica / faience / ironstone type material. It is round in shape with a rounded underside - no foot like a normal plate. The piece is hand painted with a superb scene including some ducks swimming on water, people washing their clothes near the edge and a family standing in a clearing. Some nice trees and rocks and even birds in the sky make this a very nice looking dish! The plate is in great condition with one tiny paint flake colored in to hide it almost perfectly and a small manufacturing flaw to the very edge as shown. The edge is white but would look better with a gold trim. No sign of it so not sure if it ever had one. The underside is unmarked so I have no idea as to the maker but the artist signed the scene on the front near the ducks as shown. E. Petit. The plate is 0.875 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
