Guilloche / Limoges Enamel Type Box

This is a nice enamelled brass box made in France in the mid to late 19th century. The box is oval in shape and has some superb details to the outside. There are gold and silver designs - the silver is under a blue enamel where you just see it with the gold just being under the top clear coat. Each of the four sides as well as the center top has a hand painted flower design on white ground surrounded by little white raised "jewels" on gold foil. I have seen these being called seed pearls as well as opals but they are just small riased enamel dots on a gold faoil backing. More common to porcelain I think than these enamel boxes. The brass hinges have a nice chased design to them for the lid edge as well as the part that doesn't show when the lid is closed. Inside is plain brass as shown. The underside has that amazing silver design under blue enamel with the gold design around the edge under the clear enamel. A stunning little box! The box is in great condition with three of the tiny "jewels" missing but the gold faoil is there so it is not easy to spot at all. None are missing on the lid. A bit of scratching to the underside enamel but the piece displays perfectly! The box is about 1.25 inch tall, 2.375 inches wide and 2 inches deep. It is not marked as far as I can tell.
