Equestrian Scene Vase

This is a superb vase made in France probably the Paris or Limoges areas in the early 19th century. A nicely shaped example that is hand painted really well. The handles are fully gilded possibly meant to resemble lotus flowers. The front has a large hand painted scene of two hunters on top of their horses with a dog below in a landscape surrounding. A very good quality scene that is surrouned by a tooled gilding frame. The back side has a scene of a boar's head in the loop of a hunting horn with leaves all around. That design is in green with gold highlights which is set on a light blue ground color. A nice tooled gilding frame around this scene as well. The rest of the vase is fully gilded except for the square base wich is marbled. A great looking piece that is in great condition. Just three small paint flakes in the green of the boar's head scene and a small chip to the little piece sticking out from the handle that was gilded in to hide it very well as shown. The vase is not marked except for a small incised cross to the underside base as shown. The vase is 11.5 inches tall, 6 inches wide from handle to handle and has a diameter of 4 inches. A really nice piece from a great period of French porcelain. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
