Floral Inkwell

This is a nice inkwell made in France in the 19th century. Not sure of a maker but this style with the heavy gilding and the way the flowers are painted plus the colors used is definitely French! The piece is really heavy and I have no idea why. Much more so than I would expect. The bottom part is made of porcelain and is hand painted nicely with some flower arrangements as well as little bugs and that thick raised gilding all around. The mounts are brass I assume or bronze and there is a porcelain inset as well that looks to be original. The lid has a nice design to it and it closes properly as well. All in all in superb condition could maybe use a slight polishing but I think it is fine as is. The porcelain is perfect. The piece has a flat unglazed bottom and is marked with an incised mark as well as two over glaze blue crossing swords as a mark as shown. The piece is 4.25 inches tall and 3.375 inches in diameter. Like I said it is quite heavy and won't move at all when on a desk so would be a nice piece to use! Or you can use it to hold down your paperwork :) Please email me for more information or other pictures.
