Damaged Fruit Cooler

This is a nice lidded fruit cooler made in France probably the Paris region in the later 18th century. These pieces are become rather difficult to find. It was originally used to cool fruit with ice being added to the top of the lid and to the inside with a third bowl like pieces holding the fruit. That piece is lacking here which is the case most of the time. The main body and lid are hand painted with a pink floral and green leaves garland all around, two larger and two smaller floral arrangements to the main body, gold twigs filling in the rest of the space as well as the bottom inside of the lid. A handle sticking out from the center of the lid and handles to the side of the main body. Lots of gold trim all over make this an elegant looking set. The lidded cooler is in OK condition with the lopp of the handle on the lid having been broken and reglued, one handle of the main body was broken off and has been restored and the other handle is lacking, there is a firing crack to the lid underside, and a hairline crack going from the rim to the bottom of the main body. A circular firing crack to the bottom inside of the main body and some of the usual firing flaws like brown firing spots. The gilding only has minimal wear which make it look great. Some minor glaze crazing to the lid inside and the bottom of the main piece. Still a rare survivor and worthy of a restoration for sure. The set measures 10.275 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter. It is unmarked but definitely French from this period. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
