Pirkenhammer Lidded Cup & Saucer

This is a lidded cup and saucer made by Pirkenhammer which is now located in the Czech Republic around 1850. The factory was located in a Bohemian village Pirkenhammer ( Brezova ) near Karlovy Vary ( Karlsbad ). Mr. Hoeke founded the factory around 1803 with the help of the Greiner family (from the Thuringia area). In about 1810 Christian Fischer & Reichenbach bought it and after 1845 Reichenbach was gone. In 1852 Christian's daughter Wilhelmine married her cousin Ludwig von Mieg. The company was now Fischer & Mieg. They won a few very high prestige awards for their porcelain. After the 1840's the porcelain became more decorative and higher quality. The company is still around today which is a rare feat. The set is hand painted with a pink and purple luster design along the rim with little panels of flowers and green crosses. The lid has a nice floral finial. There used to be a lot of gold trim on top of the pink but that is mostly gone now. I originally thought these are Russian until I found the mark on them. Both pieces are marked with an impressed F&M mark as well as a number 2. Impossible to see unless you shine a bright light through it. The cup is 3 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter. The lid adds another 2.375 inches in height. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and 5.75 inches in diameter. In good condition with the missing gold already mentioned. Still looks great and these early lidded cups are hard to find. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
