Ferdinandea Naples Topless Women Cup & Saucer

This is a rare and really nice cup and saucer made in Naples , Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea in the late 18th century. The Capodimonte factory existed near Naples from 1743 until 1759. It had little to do with the Naples factory which was founded by Ferdinand IV in 1771 and existed until 1806 when the French occupied it and after that the molds, etc. were sold all over the place. The cup is hand painted with a superb all around scene of nude or topless ladies doing different things with a landscape underneath them and some nice gilding to the top and bottom edge as well as the handle. One lady appears to be getting dressed, another is playing with a putto and a third with a little dog. The saucer is similarly hand painted with a topless lady that looks like she is playing jump robe or something along those lines. Nice gilding around the well edge and the edge of the saucer. The set is in superb condition with some wear to the gilding but the set displays perfectly well. The cup and saucer are not marked but that is fairly common with this maker. The cup stands 2.375 inches tall, 2.5 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
