Ferdinandea Naples Cup & Saucer

This is a rare cup and saucer made in Naples , Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea in about 1790. The Capodimonte factory existed near Naples from 1743 until 1759. It had little to do with the Naples factory which was founded by Ferdinand IV in 1771 and was around until 1806 when the French occupied it and after that the molds, etc. were sold all over the place. The set is hand painted with a superb scene of an amorini / cherub playing a musical instrument with some nice gld trim to both pieces. The set is in perfect condition with some minor factory flaws typical to their pieces. The cup and saucer are marked with a version of their under glaze blue N under a crown often used by other makers but originally used by Naples as is the case on this set. The cup also has some sort of incised mark underneath. The cup stands 2.25 inches tall, 2.125 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 4.875 inches in diameter.
