21 Piece Tea Set #2

Factory XYZ is the English mystery and what I think personifies the English porcelain difficulties. It is extremely hard to identify some things because they are not marked at all or just with numbers. Shapes are the key but then you need the right books, etc. And even then they call them factories XYZ because they don't know for sure who made them and where they were. Research, however, is slowly closing in on them. Soon we will maybe know what X, Y & Z should really be called. They did make some very nice porcelain. Not as good as Worcester , Derby , Minton , etc. but still quality pieces. Maybe somebody can be more specific and has the perfect book to identify this set. If so a quick email would off course be much appreciated.

This is super teaset made around 1800. It is handpainted with an orange and silver (really platinum) design of flowers and a ring of red circles and silver squares. Silver trim on top edges as well which amazingly show very little wear. Platinum is rarely used as decoration for porcelain since it is extremely costly but it does add a lot of charm to this very nice old set. It is made up of 21 pieces - 1 teapot (glazed over small chip to footring, inside only firing crack and a star crack area to the left front side but it rings well), 1 sugar bowl ( glaze crack to bottom that does not go through), 1 creamer, 1 slop bowl (a hairline crack), 8 saucers (1 with a short hairline and 1 with a short tight firing crack) and 8 cups. There are firing impurities throughout the set but they don't take away from it at all. It is a very decorative set and quite old. The only markings on it are some silver circles or red lines underneath but they have little meaning I assume. As to the size of the pieces - the teapot is 6.75 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide and 11 inches deep. The sugar is 2.625 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter. The creamer is 4 inches tall, 2.375 inches wide and 4.75 inches deep. The saucers are 5.75 inches in diameter. The slop bowl is 3 inches tall and 6.375 inches in diameter. And the cups are 2 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter. I also have a plate or shallow bowl that matches this set perfectly but I bought many years later if anyone is interested. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
