Bilston Battersea Lidded Pot #1

This is something I have not seen before - a really nice cobalt blue ground and scenic Battersea enamel little pot with its lid made in England in the 18th century. Probably in the Bilston area of Southern Staffordshire . They are famous for their enamel boxes, etc. This is a super cute little piece that has that deep cobalt blue ground color with two superb scenes - one to the front and one to the back. The scenes are of very nice quality including a person, some animals and ruins in a landscape surrounding. Each scene has a raised fancy trim around it with some raised white dot design to the cobalt blue in between the scenes. The lid has two animal scenes to it as well as the same raised trim and blue ground color. Not sure what these pieces were originally meant for but they are not something you'll see soon again. Nice part is that I have a second matching piece if anyone is interested in a pair! Metal trim to the bottom edge that looks to have been gilded. The pot is in good display condition with the finial having lost its enamel, a small chip to the edge of the lid and a bit of damage to the underside. The main piece has damage to the top edge mainly in one spot and a large area of damage to the bottom left of one of the scenes underneath the goat. Oddly enough that is not very obvious when on display plus you can always turn it to the other side and then is displays very well. I think the rarity makes up for the bit of damage. Definitely worthy of being restored if one wanted to get this done! The pot including the lid is 4.25 inches tall and 2.375 inches in diameter. Unmarked which is the norm but definitely from this period and area. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
