British Royal Armorial Plate

This is a very interesting plate made in England in the first half of the 19th century. I could not find an exact match but it is similar to piece from the King George III service made by Royal Worcester. It could also have been done by Spode as I have had royal pieces of this quality by them before as well. Either way it is a superb piece. The rim has that amazing cobalt blue and gold combo that always looks stunning. The gilding is super fancy with lots of raised elements to it. And then you have that amazing ro armorial / coat of arms of the British royal family in the center and that is just something so rare and superb that it makes this a very special plate. The armorial is superbly hand painted with the lion on one side and the unicorn on the other with the shield in the center and a crown with a lion on top above. The motto on the banners below is Dieu et mon droit which means God and my right which off course is the motto of the British monarch. Around the shield it states Honi Soit I mal Y Pense with the qu not seen of qui so it would stateHoni soit qui mal y pense which is French for Shame be to him who thinks evil of it. This is the motto of Order of the Garter, the highest order of chivalry in the UK, which was founded by King Edward III in the 14th century. The phrase appears on the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom. So there you have it. All the info I could find on the coat of arms :) A truly stunning plate that is in amazing conditions. Just some tiny firing spots in the white area of the well of the plate from when it was made. Common to early wares and not considered a flaw. And a spot or two of wear to the gold on the very outer edge. It displays perfectly and is quite special. The piece is unmarked which is a bit odd since I would think the maker would be very proud of this piece. The plate is 1.125 inches tall and 10.25 inches in diameter.
