English Enamel Etui

This is a rare sewing etui made in The South Staffordshire region of England around 1780. Probably in Bilston. The set is hand enameled with a dark blue background that has white & gild raised designs on it and four different scenes. The scenes are extremely detailed and of very high quality with people and animals in landscape backgrounds. The metal is gold plated for sure. The set inside includes six pieces but the scissors are missing. There is a little knife, a thimble screwed on the needle case, a knife, a pencil, an ivory notebook and two more silver pieces. All the pieces inside are made of silver and are quite heavy. The pencil still has the pencil inside the silver casing. An extremely nice set and in superb condition. Very little wear at all to the outside and on the inside the lid has a red velvet liner that has ripped in the top. The silver has oxidized but that is no big deal. There is a wooden block inside underneath the metal with all the same holes in it but it slides up and down and might have been glued in place originally. The etui is 4 inches tall and 1.5 inches in diameter. The utencils inside are all about 2.5 to 3 inches long. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
