Enamel Miniature

This is a superb enamelled miniature painting (on silver) probably done in Austria around 1800. The picture includes four children in a landscape background with a basket of flowers by the girl and two sheep on the side. A tree in the background and a brook in the foreground. Amazingly detailed . The frame around the miniature is silver. The picture is glued onto a velvet background with a wooden gold frame around it which is obviously much newer. I wish it would come off easily to see if there are any markings but I won't break it to get it off so no luck there. The picture is in perfect condition. The gold frame has lost some gilding but it's no big deal. The small oval is 1.625 inches wide and 2 inches tall. The outside frame is 4.125 inches wide and 5 inches tall.
