Dresden Large Scenic Box

This is a superb large scenic box made by a Dresden area maker in the mid to late 19th century. It has several large and detailed scenes on it of mostly couples in a superb landscape surrounding with some nice scroll work in pink, orange and green with gold highlights all around. The hinges are bronze or brass and still attached the old way with metal rods piercing through the porcelain. These were done by heating the metal and 'melting' them through the porcelain kind of like staple repairs were done back then! The box is in great condition with a chip to the right side lid edge towards the back and some wear to the gilding on the lid from being handled over the years. It is not marked underneath and the yellow residue you see in the underside picture is from old glue and does come off - likely someone added a soft cloth bottom to it as to not scratch the furniture! The scenes are of very good quality and it was certainly made by one of the better Dresden area makers. The box is 3.75 inches tall, 7.125 inches wide and 4.875 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
