Helena Wolfsohn Large Dolphin Handle Scenic Vase #2

This is a huge vase amde by one of the Dresden studios in the 19th century. They are marked with the AR ( Augustus Rex ) mark in under glaze blue which they had to stop using around 1880 since it was a registered mark of Meissen. The vase is one of a pair. It is hand painted with a superb scene to the front including two ladies and two gentlemen in a landscape surrounding. Different scene than on the other vase. The other side of the vase has a large floral scene to it. Both scenes are surrounded by a nice gold trim with four panels of putto / cherub scenes in grey tones with a pink background. The rest of the vase as a nice yellow ground color to it. My favorite part are the large handles to either side in the shape of dolphins or Koi fish. Stunning and unlike anything I have seen before. This is the sort of thing that stands out and looks great anywhere in a house. Super decorative! The vase is in superb condition with a little wear to the gilding as one would expect but nothing that takes away from the piece. It was at some point drilled to be used as a lamp so it has a hole in the center of the bottom through the A r mark as shown. The piece is 17 inches tall, about 15 inches wide and 10.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
