Doccia Shoe Shaped Snuff Box

This is a fantastic and rare snuff box made by Doccia in the 18th century. It is in the shape of a gentleman's shoe (Yes it looks a bit female but that was the style back then). The piece is decorated with some relief designs to the paste that are painted in polychrome colors typical of this maker plus some extra flowers painted on the lid, inside and underside as well as the back heel. A similar shape was also made in China as well as at Mennecy but this piece is quite obviously Doccia. The mounts are silver but I cannot find a mark. The box is in great condition with a larger chip to the back edge of the heel and some minor shipping to the bottom edge of the heel, two firing cracks to the inside back as shown and the lid is tough to open and close though it does do both. It is an amazing and very rare piece and I was thrilled to own it. The piece is not marked which is normal for early porcelain by them. It is 2.125 inches tall, 3.5 inches long and 1.625 inches wide. One of the most fun pieces I have ever come across or owned in terms of snuff boxes! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
