Doccia Polychrome Relief Scene Teapot

This is a superb large teapot with its lid made by Doccia in the early to mid 19th century. The pot is superbly modeled with an animal spout and a red coral handle. It is decorated with my favorite design by them - relief scenes that are handpainted with lots of nice detail. Nice gold trim to the spout, top and bottom rim and the lid. The lid has a nice fruit finial on it. The piece is in great condition with some typical firing flaws of the early pieces like small bumps in the paste, tiny black firing spots and small firing cracks that are glazed over. The lid has a flat chip to the rim and one of the pins holding it in place is a bit chipped. A little wear to the handle but all in all as good as it gets! The piece is marked underneath with the crown over N mark in underglaze blue as well as an incised 1. The tea pot is 7.5 inches tall, 6.5 inches wide and 11 inches long including the spout and handle. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
