Leda and the Swan Figure

This is an amazing and quite large figurine made by Doccia in the mid 18th century. A superbly modeled and painted piece copied from the original bronze by Massimiliano Soldani-Benzi (1656 - 1740). The piece has the semi nude leda in the center with her left arm around the swan and naked cupid helping to lift the drape over leda. A stunning piece which is amazingly in perfect condition. The figure is marked underneath with a faint crown over N mark as shown. The figure is very heavy about 9 pounds. The piece is about 12 inches tall, 11 inches wide and 5 inches deep.
