Korean Lion Plate

This is a really interesting deep / soup plate made by Doccia / Ginori. Hard to date but because of the paste I'd say very early 19th century. On first glance it looks like an 18th century Meissen plate hand painted with one of the nicest of the Kakiemon designs called the Korean Lion pattern based on the designs from Japan. It includes what is called the lion, a crane, a may bug indian flowers and bugs. Nice cross hatch type rim decor called the Sulkowski Ozier design in relief. But the colors are not quite right and neither is teh paste and the foot ring was not ground down either. And looking through it with a light it does not ahve the variations in translucency an early Meissen piece would have but instead I discovered it was marked with an impressed star mark used by Doccia / Ginori. Sadly the mark was used almost the entire time they made porcelain and thus does not help in dating the piece. The paste is not greyish as their early paste nor does it have the tin glaze so that takes those two early periods away. Still has some flaws to it from the making so I'd say right around 1800. Probably made as a replacement piece as the design is almost an exact copy. The main missing color is that typical turquoise color Meissen used early on. It is definitely a nicely done pieceof great quality and is quite interesting in terms of maker and the use of this design. The plate is in superb condition with some very minor wear. It is marked only with the impressed star (twice) as shown. The plate is 1.75 inches tall and 8.75 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
