Relief Scene Espresso Cup & Saucer #1

This is a rare and superb cup and saucer made by Doccia / Ginori later 19th century. I have not had one of this size and it was most likely used for the typically Italian drink Espresso or maybe a mocha coffee as well. The cup is decorated with biblical or mythological scenes in relief all around that are hand painted very nicely. Often called Capodimonte style. The less common more normal handle with a bit of gold trim to it. The red corral or intertwined branch handle are more common to these pieces but they also made this handle shape. The saucer is decorated with a relief design of floral garlands connected by a nice shell design all hand painted in their typical colors. Gold trim to the edges and a gold flower to the inside of the cup. The set is in perfect condition. Both pieces have the under glaze crown with the letter N below as shown. This is the original maker of this style that was so often copied later in Dresden, etc. and those examples one sees much more often! The cup is just under 1.75 inches tall and about 2.625 inches in diameter and the saucer is 0.75 inches tall and 4.375 inches in diameter. Not a size you find often at all!
