Doccia Sienna Rust Plate #1

This is a superb plate in a pattern I have been trying to find for ages. A very popular pattern even today it is known under a few names - Galli Rossi / Sienna Rust and I think there is another one but I can't remember it right now. This superb plate was made by Doccia / Ginori in about 1770. It is handpainted with the rust colored design with gold highlights of the two fighting roosters in the center with a tree and some other plants with three more designs to the rim. It's rare to find the pieces from the 18th century as most one sees are modern. The rim has a nice shape and a relief design to it as well. The plate is made with a tin glaze to cover the not so white porcelain paste of the time. This was used around 1770. The plate is in perfect condition with very little wear just some minor manufacturing flaws as usual. It is unmarked which is the norm but definitely made by them during this period. The piece is 1.25 inches tall and 9.125 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1249
