Doccia Early Relief Scene Teapot

This is a superb teapot with its lid made by Doccia in the late 18th to early 19th century. The pot is superbly modeled with a spout that has two putti / cherubs on it and a fancy handle that has two of them in relief as well. I ahve not seen that before. Both have a lot of gold trim to them as well. The lid has two pairs and two single putti / cherubs to it with some gold trim to the edge and finial. The main body is decorated with my favorite design by them - relief scenes that are hand painted with lots of nice detail. There is always a lot going on in them but the 3D effect makes it extra nice. There are two more pairs and two more single putti / cherubs by the spout and handle area. This here is an earlier version than I have had in polychrome with the colors not quite as bright as the later pieces. It is a superb piece! The piece is in great condition with some glaze flaws to the underside, the opening that is covered by the lid and inside the spout where the glaze is uneven and some very minor wear to the gilding. The piece displays perfectly and ready to be used or displayed. The piece is not marked underneath which is quite typical of their earlier wares. The tea pot is 5.5 inches tall including the finial, 6 in diameter and 9.75 inches long including the spout and handle. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
