Doccia White Teapot

This is a rare large teapot made by Doccia in the late 18th century. I just bought an entire collection of this style design just in case you were wondering! They are quite rare and I have not seen nor owned a piece like it! This is what most people refer to as Capodimonte style with the mythological or biblical scenes in relief. I don't believe Capodimonte ever actually made this style but Doccia did and made it famous for sure! The teapot has figural scenes on all around including trees, lots of people and pairs of little cherubs in the sky plus a nice handle and figural spout. The lid has a superb figural finial on it. All the scenes are done in relief and are very detailed though the thick glaze hides some of it as usual. The teapot is in superb condition with some of their typical manufacturing flaws of this period including small cracks that are under the glaze, minor black spots and inclusions. There is a larger firing crack in the spout which was factory filled at some point though some of that has come out. The glaze does cover it. The lid is a bit of a mystery - certainly of the period by them and it fits perfectly but the inside ring is much smaller than the opening and it does not have the two points the main body opening has room for. But it does fit perfectly so maybe a special order?? The teapot is not marked which is fairly normal with Doccia pieces. It stands 7.75 inches tall including the finial, it has a diameter of 6 inches and it is 11.25 inches long including the handle and spout. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
