Doccia White Cup & Saucer #5

This is another cup and saucer made by Doccia in the late 18th century. I just bought an entire collection of this style design just in case you were wondering! They are quite rare! This is what most people refer to as Capodimonte style with the mythological figures in relief. I don't believe Capodimonte ever actually made this style but Doccia did and made it famous for sure! The cup has lots of figural scenes on it including trees, lots of people and a horse drawn chariot. The saucer is decorated with scroll work and garlands. All this is done in relief and is very detailed. The set is in great condition with some of their typical manufacturing flaws of this period including small cracks that are mostly under the glaze, minor black spots and inclusions. The cup has an extra piece of porcelain stuck inside from the making and the handle was broken off cleanly and reglued plus there are two larger black firing spots on it. It still displays perfectly! The cup is a bit oval shaped from firing. The handle is supposed to simulate twisted branches and was used during the same time the coral type handle was used. The cup is marked with the crown over N mark in underglaze blue (very fainlty) and the saucer is not marked at all which is nothing unusual! The cup stands 2.875 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter plus or minus a bit depending where you measure. The saucer is 0.75 inches tall and 5.625 inches in diameter.
