Doccia Biscuit Lady Figurine

This is a rare unglazed porcelain figurine made by Doccia in about 1760. The glazed pieces are very ahrd to find but biscuit ones are extremely rare. This one here is really nice - it is a figure of a lady wrapped in a loose fitting dress with a cloth around the center of her body and over her arms. It being unglazed bring out all that amazing detail that is so often covered up by a thick glaze and makes it look very much like the marble it was meant to imitate. The piece has the typical Italian features of the head and the base and the sandals are a good giveaway as well. I think this one is made of the famous masso bastardo the way it looks underneath but I am not completely sure on that. The figurine is just amazing! The piece is in great condition with jsut some damage to the fingers in her left hand as shown - an easy fix if need be. Unmarked which is normal. The figurine is 6.25 inches tall, 3.125 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1249
