Super Early Figurine

This is a really interesting figurine made by Derby in the 1750s. I first thought it might be a super early figure since that base I could only find very early on but the flowers look more like the pieces from the mid 1750s so it was probably made then. Definitely an odd piece! This model is meant to represent Spring as one of the four seasons but it normally does not come with that clunky thick square base. Normally it just has that round base and is of the dry edge period of about 1752 but here there is an addition of that base which is odd. The figurine was modelled by Agostino Carlini and is of a female putto holding a basket filled with flowers, has a cloth covering her mid section with more flowers to the rounded base. Definitely a very interesting piece and a superb figurine. The underside base even looks to have patch marks to it which were not normal until much later. The piece is in great condition with three chipped leaves and three chipped flowers, flaw to nose and big toe that are discolored. Some minor crazing to the glaze and some manufacturing flaws in the forms of cracks and hairlines but all under the glaze and from when she was made. The figure is unmarked underneath which is normal but is definitely a very early example of Derby. The piece is just over 6 inches tall, 3 inches wide and 2.875 inches deep.
