Named Scenes Tureen

This is a super lidded terrine / tureen with its underplate made by Derby in the early 19th century. All three pieces are handpainted with some superb gold trim two scenes (one large one on the underplate) with views that are named underneath. The quality and colors are stunning and the gilding so intricate that I wonder how they did it without going nuts :) The set is in great condition with a firing crack on one side of the handle (not going through!), a firing crack on the top seam of the rim of the tureen that resulted in a small hairline from it, crazing to the underplate and a hairline to the lid which split into a Y shape. The gilding is in top shape as is the rest and the piece displays perfectly!! Both the underplate and main body of the tureen are marked with the red D mark as well as Near Verona, Italy / Near Duffield, Derbyshire / View in Lancashire on the undersides. There is a black 72 underneath the udnerplate as well. Not sure if it is a painter's mark or pattern number or what!? The underplate is 1.125 inches tall, 8.5 inches wide and 6.75 inches deep. The tureen and lid are 5 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
