Small Frill Vase

This is a superb small potpourri frill vase made by Derby between 1756 and 1760. The vase is decorated with applied flowers and fruit , two faces, a reticulated top rim and lots of leaves. There are three bugs painted in between and there is a gold trim to the top. Applied small flowers at all the intersection points of the reticulated and around the foot. My favorite are the fruit on the vines as I have not seen this before on this particular model. The vase is in good condition considering her age! Oddly a lot of what one would call damage happened during the making - there are some firing cracks in the reticulated top, a flower missing under the neck of one face as well as on the leaves a bit lower under the other face and some fruits/flowers moved from the spots where they were meant to be. All these are from production. Then there is some minor damage to some of the leaves on the vines (three of which have parts restored), one large leaf is missing and one half chipped off as well as some minor chips on the ring of large leaves around the bottom part. One face is missing the leaves and flowers over it but all in all it is a superb early piece and displays perfectly from the one side. The vase is unmarked underneath but that's common as well but does have light patchmarks covered up by the cardboard ring someone put under it to keep it from moving from side to side I am sure. The piece is just about 6.5 inches tall and has a top diameter of 4.75 inches. Would probably have had a lid that would be placed on the inside top though these are almsot always long gone.
