Partridge Box / Tureen

This is a superb and rare piece made by Derby in the early 1750s. Usually these are referred to as sauce tureens but I cannot find a piece of this size anywhere being half the size of what one usually finds (and even those bigger ones are very rare!). It is in the form of a partridge bird sitting on its nest. Nicely painted with fun colors and lots of detail. The piece matches one that was dates 1750-54 in terms of shape and colors/decoration though as I said this one here is much smaller and more fun :) The box and lid are in amazing condition considering the age! A bit of wear and some damage to the applied leaves/grass around the sides of the piece but even that is minor. Lots of tiny black firing spots common to these early pieces. All in all a thrilling piece and I was more than happy to have found it! The piece is unmarked underneath but that's pretty much the norm on these early pieces by them! The entire box is 2.75 inches tall, 3 inches wide and 4.75 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
