Shakespeare with Base Figurine

This is a figurine made by Derby around 1770 of William Shakespeare. One of the best and most famous English poets that ever lived. He is very well modelled and the colors are modestly applied which makes him very elegant and not overbearing. The earlier base I find much nicer than the little bit later, rectangular simple ones. The figure is in superb condition with few flaws. A loope of his shoelaces missing partially, two small chips to his cape edge, one small chip to the written paper scroll edge and some minor firing issues normal to this period and size piece. He comes with a metal base which used to have lamp parts attached which have been taken off in the back. To keep him from falling over he has a huge lead disc attached under the metal base which makes this a super heavy piece! No cat or dog will push this piece over :) Shakespeare is 12.5 inches tall plus another inch for the base and 6.5 inches wide. Not sure if there are marks udnerneath the base or not as I have not taken it off nor plan to do so. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
