Imari Vase

This is an urn shaped vase made by Derby in the early 19th century. The piece has a nice shape to it with scroll work handles with gold trim to them and is hand painted in Imari colors with floral designs in mainly blue, burnt orange and gold with some green and pink thrown in as well. The main body is attached to a square plinth foot as is normal with this shape. A nice piece that display well but is not without issues sadly. One handle has been almost perfectly glued back on which is very hard to tell while the other has had some restoration done to it. Neither shows when on display and it looks nice! There is one corner of the base that looks a bit off but I don't think it was restored as the gilding continues without change. Some fine crazing to it which has darkened the entire piece slightly though since it is so even maybe it was off white to begin with. Not sure. The gilding is in great shape except for the handles that have a bit of wear. The underside is marked with the red D under a crown mark as shown and there is a red 17 mark as well. The vase is 8.625 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 4.75 inches deep. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions about the piece!

Price is $159
