Greyhounds Plate

This is a plate made by Derby during the Stevenson & Hancock period of around 1862. It is handpainted with a pair of greyhounds or whippets with superb attention to detail. Very lifelike. Rim has a nice gold design on it as well. The greyhound painting in the center is signed between the brown dog's legs something like J. Machin . The plate is in great condition with some crazing to the glaze typical of these pieces. It is marked underneath with a puce Derby mark of two crossed swords under a crown with the letter D underneath and S & H to either side. Also the word Greyhounds and another mark. The plate is 0.875 inches tall and 8.75 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
