Gentleman from Pair

This is a figurine of a gentleman made by Derby in about 1756-60. The figure is very well modeled and quite beautifully painted especially his jacket! He is likely one of a pair of figurines - a grape seller and quite early for Derby. He is sitting on a tree stump with a reticulated basket of grapes in his lap. Amazing how they got all this superb detail into a small figurine! The figurine is in great condition considering its age! He is missing something small on top of his hat likely a feather or small flower, two leaves in his basket are chipped and the pink flower on his left side is a little chipped though is is not obvious at all. There is some wear to the gold trim on his hat. His forward foot was restored perfectly as well. So all in all as perfect as you will find a piece from this era. The figurine is unmarked underneath except for an incised letter but that's common as well but he does have the typical underside with a light patchmark. The figurine is 5 inches tall, 3.375 inches wide and 2.75 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
