Biscuit Lady Figurine

This is a rare and superb biscuit porcelain figurine made by Derby in the 18th century. Unglazed porcelain like this was meant to imitate marble which is does very well and white pieces like this were much more expensive than painted ones. The figure is of a lady wearing a nice outfit holding a basket under her right arm, a bunch of grapes in her left hand while standing on a base with grapes and a pumpkin on it and a tree stump behind her with two short branches growing out of it. It's a really well modeled figure with ton of detail as are many that are made of biscuit porcelain. A really nice looking piece that is in great condition. Even the bows on her shoes and on her dress are in great shape except for one loop having been damaged on her dress and two on the front shoe. A few leaves are damaged on the piece which is to be expected and the braided handle of the basket is gone. None of this is obvious at all and the figurine displays perfectly! The figure is in amazing condition compared to most one sees of this type. The figurine is marked underneath as shown with the No. 123, an incised triangle, incised maker's mark plus the letters sml as shown. The figurine is about 6.75 inches tall, 3.625 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep - so fairly large for an unglazed piece! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
