Biscuit Cherub w/ Dog Figurine

This is a rare and fun biscuit porcelain figurine made by Derby in the 18th century. Unglazed porcelain like this was meant to imitate marble which is does very well and white pieces like this were much more expensive than painted ones. The figure is of cupid / amor / eros with a dog and a tree. The dog got his little tongue sticking out as if he is about to like the cupid's face which is holding its paw. Super cute! The cupid has a horn attached to the side while sitting on a rock base with some leaves and grasses in between them. The figure is in amazing condition compared to most one sees of this type. The only damage is to the leaves of the tree which is just impossible to avoid over that long a time. Amazingly there are still a couple that are fully intact but most are chipped off. The piece displays superbly!! The figurine is marked underneath as shown with the No. 210 or something along those lines as shown. The figurine is about 5 inches tall, 2.625 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
