Biscuit Cherub w/ Falcon Figurine

This is a rare and fun biscuit porcelain figurine made by Derby in the 18th century. Unglazed porcelain like this was meant to imitate marble which it does very well and white pieces like this were much more expensive than painted ones. The figure is of cupid / amor / eros with a falcon and a tree. Modeled by Nicholas Gauron. The cherub is sitting on a typical rock base with a small cloth covering his mid section and has the bird sitting on his right hand. There are some flowers and grasses on the base with a tree in the back. The figure displays superbly but has a few minor issues. There used to be a line going from his left hand to the bird which is gone (to be expected since it is rather thin), chips to four leaves of the flowers on the base and some chipping to the leaves of the tree though it is in better condition than msot one sees. There is a spot in the back of it where there might have been another branch but I am not sure. Some kiln dust along the bottom of the base as shown from when it was made. All in all a really superb piece! The figurine is marked underneath as shown with the model No. 213 as shown. The piece is about 5.125 inches tall, 2.25 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep.
