Damm Pair

This is a rare figurine made by Damm using the old Hoechst molds around 1840-1850. Damm was actually not a porcelain but an earthenware maker. Thus these pieces look quite different than the old Hoechst ones and are much lighter in weight. They are also a bit bigger in size as earthenware did not shrink as much as porcelain during the firing process. Quite charming though and very collectable and rare. This is a pair holding a guinea pig. It is 6.25 inches tall, 4 inches wide and 3 inches deep. Marked underneath with the blue wheel mark and the letter D above it. Also incised 41 which is listed in the Damm book as a couple with a guinea pig. Perfect condition with some light crazing which is normal with these pieces. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
