Large White Cozzi Figure

This is a superb figurine made by Cozzi of Venice , Italy in about 1765. The greyish color of the hard paste as well as the glossy finish and it being undecorated all point to this superb maker. They made a lot of figurines but this one is more elborate and larger than most. Este was the only other maker this might have been made by but the quality points towards Cozzi quite clearly in this case. The piece has lots going on. There are three figurines - a shepherd, shepherdess and a boy playing with a dog in the back. There is even s snake in an opening of the base which is amazing! A tree in the center and lots of superb scrollwrok on the abse as well as grasses and flowers. A ruin wall hold it all together in the middle. The shepherd is playing the flute while the lady is playing the castanets - I believed only used in Spain but apparently also in Italy during this time. Was kind of hoping this was Buen Retiro but alas it is hard paste so a no go :( The figure displays superbly but obviously it is not without damage with all this detail! The tree once had more branches with leaves, the lady's left hand was broken off with fingers broken and one missing, the man had a cane that is partially missing, the flute damaged a bit on the bottom and the back of his hat missing. The boy was off the base with damage to his right leg, his hands are missing the fingers and there is some mess in his lap thought that appears from the making. The dog has a reglued front leg and one leg missing. A firing crack to the base. All in all in pretty good condition and the damage is not obvious and it looks stunning in my cabinet :) The figurine is not marked but that's normal. It is 9.5 inches tall and the base has a diameter of about 5.5 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
