Scenic Plate #2

This is a plate made by Royal Copenhagen in about 1820. It is handpainted with a nice large scene covering the entire center showing the front of Fredensborg Palace in Denmark. The original part of Fredensborg was build in 1720 and Fred means Peace and as a celebration of the peace in the Great Nordic War between Denmark and Sweden 1718-20. Fredensborg was extended many times in the 18th century and the present state goes back to the 1780's. It is still the preferred summer residence of the royal family.  It is very rare to find these early plates made by Copenhagen especially the ones with scenes. The plate is in great condition with some wear to the gilding and the scene. The plate is marked underneath with the three wavy blue lines with a dot next to it which is their earliest mark. It is 1 inch tall and 8.75 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
