Royal Kopenhagen Giant Winter Plaque

This is an unglazed porcelain plaque made by Royal Copenhagen in the mid to late 19th century. I believe the smaller size was originally designed around 1825 and produced around 1850 and this larger version a bit later. This version is much nicer because of the size. The plaque is a relief design of winter - all in all there are four different version for the four seasons. This piece is very large and heavy. The plaque is 14 inches (that's right!) in diameter and an inch thick. The back is marked with the three wavy blue lines mark as well as an incised No 1. There are two holes in the top back part for hanging it. The plaque is of a man warming his hands by the fire and a woman lighting an oil lamp with a cat by her side. The detail is very nice especially in this large version! The piece is in great condition with lots of dirt which I will clean slowly and a chip to the firepit which isn't bad. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
