Early Flora Danica Plate

This is a rare early plate made by Royal Copenhagen between 1894 and 1900 - almost as early as you can find unless it is from the original service still owned by royalty :) They only started to make this design for the general population in the 1860's I believe. It is part of their most famous service the Flora Danica or Danish Flowers service. One of the most famous services ever made. This plate is handpainted with a nice large branch in the ccenter with its leaves and flower - of the Fly Honeysuckle whose name is written on the back of the plate in Latin. The rim of the plate is the nicest type they made with the pointed edges as well as the reticulation and painted gilding and flowers. The plate is in perfect condition which I find amazing for this age. It is marked underneath with the three wavy blue lines in underglaze as well as Danmark under a crown in green and the Latin name in black. The plate is 1 inch tall and 8.875 inches in diameter.
